An opportunity the world cannot give! Communicating the word of God through Religious Education is doing yourself and your family, especially your children, a favor.
This is because at such an early age you awaken your family to the LOVE and Value of Christ rather than that of the world. For yourself, you are right into the very heart of being an apostle of the lord which is the very mission and responsibility of being baptized Christian Parent.
"...Parents have the task of training their children from childhood to recognize God's love for all men. Especially by EXAMPLE they should teach them little by little to show concern for the material and spiritual needs of their neighbor. The whole family, then, would become a sort of apprenticeship for the Apostolate." (
Vatican II - Laity #30)
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a way of religious formation (catechesis) for children (Pre-K - 12th grade) that is quite different from the published program. It does not use a catechetical series of books or take place in a classroom. In this approach there is a prepared room in which every object is a help to knowing God. It is a place of simplicity and order, prayer and work, and community. Everything in this room, known as the
Atrium, is intended to be appropriate to the ages and sizes of the children who gather there. It is their religious needs that guide the catechesis. The Atrium allows the children to come into contact with scripture, the liturgy and doctrine of the church and, for older ones, the whole of sacred history.
